October 07, 2026

Based on an article published by the Hetq news outlet on August 28, 2026, the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body of the Republic of Armenia conducted an inspection from September 4 to 18, 2026, at “Tsovagyugh Road Construction Materials” LLC, operating within the territory of “SUNNY LAND” LLC.

As part of the inspection, emission measurements were carried out at the emission source of the company’s asphalt concrete plant and at the raw material storage areas. The measurements revealed that:

  • carbon monoxide emissions exceeded the limits established by the permit for emissions of pollutants from stationary sources;
  • elevated concentrations of sulfur dioxide (SO₂) were detected, although emissions of this pollutant are not covered by the company’s maximum permissible emission permit;
  • the asphalt concrete plant is located 1,560 meters from Lake Sevan, within the Lake Sevan impact zone, where, pursuant to Article 10, Part 2, Point “a” of the Republic of Armenia Law “On Lake Sevan,” environmentally harmful emissions exceeding the permissible limits established by law are prohibited.

Based on Point 9 of Part 1 of Article 29.1 of the Republic of Armenia Law “On Environmental Control,” the Head of the Gegharkunik Territorial Division of the Inspection Body issued a decision on October 2, 2026, to suspend the operation of the company’s asphalt concrete plant.

The company’s director was held administratively liable.

To ensure enforcement of the suspension decision, it was submitted to the Compulsory Enforcement Service of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia.
